Fitness App UI Refresh
Context
Revamping workout tracking experience
I’ve been a long time user of a fitness app called Hevy. As a bit of fun, I thought I’d redesign the UI in order to change the look and feel. The original app was very functional, but a bit drab. I wanted to inject a bit of life by adding bold colors, as well as making some UX changes for clarity and conversion.

First impressions matter
When you sign up to Hevy, it prompts you to enter a username.

I felt like this was a missed opportunity to sell the user on benefits of using the platform, as well as to use some impactful imagery to create a more premium feeling.

Promoting premium
The original experience doesn’t include a free trial to premium, making it very easy to miss. It also uses a carousel to display benefits, which minimizes the likelihood that a user would process more than one.

I decided to implement a free trial for premium to encourage users to try out the features for themselves and to leverage the foot in the door principle.

I changed the carousel into a list of benefits with icons to boost comprehension and engagement.
